CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its newest flagship artificial intelligence designed for sophisticated professional applications. Announced on Sept. 30, Argon now stands at the forefront of the Gemini 4 series. It is capable of supporting intricate software development, financial analysis, legal research, and cybersecurity tasks. Additionally, the model can manage extended sequences of reasoning and execution. Currently, access remains restricted, with select cybersecurity experts utilizing Argon via the Fairwind Program.

The model’s maximum output limit has been increased to 1 million tokens, a significant jump from the previous cap of 64,000 tokens. This enhancement enables Argon to undertake longer tasks without dividing work into multiple sessions. The introductory API pricing begins at $2 per million input tokens, with output tokens costing $10 per million during the same period. Inputs cached for reuse benefit from a 95% discount. Future pricing will adjust to $4 for input tokens and $20 for output tokens.
Currently, thousands of employees within Google are already leveraging Argon for coding, research, and writing assignments. Internal teams have tested the model on projects such as data center optimization and large-scale software migrations. One project involved deploying Argon agents to facilitate C and C++ migrations to Rust, while another focused on memory profiling across data centers. The optimization efforts have freed over 300 tebibytes of memory, with further savings identified through ongoing analysis of the same systems.
Argon broadens capabilities for extended technical projects
Google reported a 77.9% score for Argon on DeepSWE v1.1, an assessment of long-term software engineering performance. The company also shared results related to finance, legal tasks, automation, and multimodal functions. Developed by Google DeepMind, Argon is part of the wider Gemini model family, combining coding tools with long-context reasoning and multimodal abilities. Its increased output capacity makes it suitable for work that involves many interconnected steps before completion.
Cybersecurity remains a key focus during this initial rollout. Argon can detect, verify, and patch software vulnerabilities within authorized defensive environments. Wiz is utilizing the model through its Scan for Good initiative, which aims to identify security issues in public infrastructure. Google also reported a 68% score on CWE-bench v1, a benchmark dedicated to vulnerability remediation. Some cybersecurity defenders can access Argon without standard guardrails when working on approved security tasks.
Limited public access during the phased deployment
A specific date for the wider release of Gemini 4 Argon has not yet been announced by Google. The company is implementing a phased approach, gathering feedback from early users, and participating in a voluntary U.S. government process that allows pre-release access to advanced AI models. Broader availability is expected later for developers, enterprise clients, and consumers. Priority access is anticipated for paid API users and Google AI Ultra subscribers, although an exact launch date remains unspecified.
Google also clarified that it does not plan to release Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was previously expected before the Gemini 4 series. Instead, Argon now serves as the flagship for demanding reasoning and professional workloads. Other Gemini models are still available to users with different performance and pricing requirements. For the time being, Gemini 4 Argon is primarily accessible to trusted testers, cybersecurity partners, and early-access programs, with a wider rollout still in progress.
